The Queensland Government’s Department of Justice recently opened Round 124, its “$100,000 Super Round”, of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).

This is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program, distributing up to $60 million in profits from gambling back into the state’s sporting organisations.

Eligible organisations can apply for a grant up to the value of $100,000, but must demonstrate the need within the community in proportion to the amount requested. That is, the higher the requested amount, the larger the demonstrated value must be.

Funding is directed to a wide range of projects, from supplying laptops to renovations works, sporting equipment to community events, and solar panels to conferences.

Last year, recipients included Ayr Bowling Club, granted $35,566 to upgrade bowling greens lights; Forrest Beach Surf Life Saving Club, granted $100,000 to build a shed; and Gin Gin Golf Club, granted $88,476 to upgrade its amenities block.

The GCBF advises that organisations looking for funding to assist in disaster recovery will be prioritised.

Community organisations must be registered on the GCBF online grants portal to apply.

Guidelines for applicants include eligibility information, application requirements and eligible items for funding, as well as information on how the funding decisions are made.

GCBF Queensland’s top tips for a successful application include showing community impact, providing a detailed budget, highlighting sustainability, and a clear outline of project goals.

This round of funding will close 18 July 2025.
