2024 winners of Keno & CQ awards for excellence announced

The 2024 Keno & Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence winners have been announced, with 23 clubs winning gold across 26 categories.

The awards aim to ‘recognise and celebrate the outstanding work and achievements of organisations and individuals’ across qualifying Queensland clubs.

Kelly Egan, CEO of Clubs Queensland said “The Awards night recognises outstanding achievements in civic contributions, sporting camaraderie, exceptional hospitality, community mindedness and individual professionalism.”

“The Excellence Awards put the spotlight on all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making these clubs a vital part of their community,” he stated.

Club of the Year, Large went to Carina Leagues Club for the second year running.

General Manager of Carina Leagues Club, Adam Wiencke said the “award is an honour that we do not take lightly,” attributing the success to the dedication of staff.

The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron also attributed its award of Club of the Year, Non Gaming to its staff and members.

Frenchville Sports Club won silver awards for Community Support Services and Club of the Year – Medium.

“We are proud of our ongoing contributions to the community, including our support for initiatives like the Fitzroy Community Hospice,” remarked Damien Massingham, CEO.

“Frenchville Sports Club has a long-standing and proud tradition of supporting the local community, contributing over $1 million annually.

“Winning Silver in Club of the Year – Medium was also a great recognition of our continued efforts to provide exceptional experiences to our members and give back to the community that has supported us throughout the years.”

Best Dining, Medium: Atrium Bistro, Gympie RSL

Best Dining, Large: The Precinct, Norths Leagues & Services Club

Health & Wellbeing: You Ok Boo?, Booroodabin Community & Recreation Club

Community Support Services: People, Not Just Names, Kedron-Wavell

Support of All Abilities Sport: Creating Magic On and Off The Field, Brothers Leagues Club Cairns

Heart of the Community: Belong in Hockey Program, Club Glenvale

Special Achievement Award – Responsible Gambling: Kedron-Wavell

Special Achievement Award – Responsible Service of Alcohol: Coolum Surf Club
