The augmenting East Maitland Bowling Club has announced the launch of the Easts Leisure & Golf clubhouse, following extensive renovations of the Hunter region site.

The new facilities mark a significant investment by the club of almost $5 million, transforming the premise into a premier destination for both golf enthusiasts and families.

Members and guests are now provided with an enhanced bar and lounge area, dart boards, pool table and function facilities.

And in response to a growing demand for family-friendly amenities, there is a new indoor kids’ area, equipped with attractive timber play equipment and activity panels, and an upgraded parents’ room. These additions are to assist parents in enjoying the club’s facilities, as younger visitors are engaged and entertained.

The highlight of the renovation is the addition of expansive new terraces, providing tranquil views of the lush fairways and surrounding landscapes.

Evolving beyond a focus on golf, areas were specifically designed to provide idyllic settings for socialising, dining, and enjoying celebrations.

“This renovation represents a significant milestone for Easts Leisure & Golf,” says Club President William Hopkins OAM JP.

“We are thrilled to unveil these enhancements that will elevate the overall experience for our members and guests. The new terraces and renovations not only enhance our offerings but also reflect our commitment to providing a first-class environment for everyone who visits the club.”

The works were revealed at an event on 28 July, featuring entertainment, kids’ activities and a showcase of the new facilities, and organisers “were thrilled” with attendance by more than 200 members.

“The launch was a celebration showcasing the improvements, but was also a thank you to the members for their ongoing support and patience throughout the construction process,” explained Easts manager Scott Driffield.

Achieving the goal of hosting families, Easts reports the new Kids Zone and Kids Play Equipment was “a big hit” with both kids and parents, further enhanced on the day with a Kids’ Disco and face painting.

“The Club wishes to reinforce itself as a family friendly venue and will continue to offer similar events in the future.”

Honouring members interested in seeing how their club had changed over the years, a booklet commemorating the achievement was provided at the launch, linking two major milestones.

“Whilst the Clubhouse has changed many times during the years, the game of golf has been played on this parcel of land since 1899,” adds Driffield.

“Looking to the future, we also wanted to commemorate our past with the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the golf course.”
