Last week saw another successful Pink Ribbon Charity Golf Day for Carpentaria Golf Club.
Seventy-two players across 18 teams teed off, but not before bidding in the buggy auction, to ensure no-one had to play the 9-hole four-person Ambrose on foot.
This auction alone raised $4,000, for seven carts.
With the temperature at 32 degrees before 9am, hydration was going to be an important factor in each team’s success. One team opted for mimosas … it has not been reported how this team fared.
Fundraising continued throughout the day, with live music, face painting, cash raffles and karaoke all part of the entertainment.
Despite the weather, members, teams and volunteers had a ball.
Finally, the event was officially declared a tremendous success by club president Murray Mountjoy, who praised all involved.
Just like the fundraising event for men’s mental health held earlier in the year, all money raised was donated towards breast cancer awareness.
As it is important for the club to support its community, funds will be directed towards local initiatives.
“Today shows the depth and the willingness of our community to get involved and support generously, both financially in terms of prizes and raffles that we’ve been able to put together, but also other businesses that have supported in other ways, like drinks carts, which is very important on a day like today,” Mountjoy told Cape York Weekly.
