Funding has been made available for eligible clubs under the Federal Government’s Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program (STS Program).
The aim of the STS Program is to commemorate Australia’s service personnel and their families.
The program provides funding for projects that honour service personnel, enhance understanding of Australia’s wartime heritage, and relate to any wars, conflicts, peacekeeping missions, or National Service.
Two types of grant opportunities are available.
The first is for community grants, where funding of up to $10,000 can support projects and activities that are local and community-based.
These projects are to commemorate the sacrifice and service of local community members, with the project being primarily accessed by the local community.
Examples include the development of a digital honour roll, or restoration of an existing local war memorial.
Major grants are also being offered, from between $10,001 and $150,000, for commemorative projects that offer a broader perspective, whether that is national, state/territory or a larger regional area.
Projects under this category will need to commemorate service personnel beyond the local community, and/or include elements available to the broader community.
Examples include development of a documentary commemorating Australian prisoners of war, or construction of an interactive memorial walking track in remembrance of all Australian service personnel.
There will be two rounds of grants. The first ends on 31 August 2025 at 9pm, while the second runs from 1 September 2025 until 9pm 5 February 2026.
The STS Program offers funding for one-time commemorative projects and activities that are ready to commence, can be completed within 12 months of the funding agreement, and rely on the funding to proceed.
