This is Part 2 of a 2-part series – inspired by coverage from ClubLife.

Continuing from part 1 last week, Revesby Workers’ Club is not alone in being recognised in ClubNSW’s 2025 Clubs & Community Awards.
Others stepping up to combat family and domestic violence (FDV) include the following clubs.
Finalists under the Social Inclusion category:
Moorebank Sports Club
Moorebank Sports Club has partnered with Georges River Life Care, which provides support to those in southwestern Sydney affected by FDV.
This involves supplying groceries, legal advice and other family support, including providing backpacks to disadvantaged school kids.
“Student welfare is paramount, and this has been addressed with support for a school backpack program packed with essentials for study and play,” said Community Coordinator Michael Rasera.
Dooley’s Lidcombe
Dooley’s Lidcombe has partnered with Parramatta Mission, which provides essential services to those facing crises including homelessness, financial hardship and FDV.
Last year Dooley’s contributed to providing over 73,000 meals, playing a critical role in addressing these challenges.
Community Relations and Grants coordinator Jason White said the ongoing housing crisis and cost of living pressures mean homelessness is more than being without shelter.
“It is a complex challenge intertwined with mental health, employment, domestic violence and social isolation,” said White.
Norths Collective
Sydney’s Norths Collective has supported non-profit Mary’s House Services, which offers crisis accommodation, for the past decade.
The Collective has contributed almost $70,000 to fund vital programs by utilising Norths Cammeray’s ClubGRANTS donations as well as several community engagement efforts.
The support for Mary’s House Services began with a single $7,250 donation to provide a ten-week ‘positive parenting course’ for young mothers affected by FDV and has grown to include fundraising events, member volunteering efforts, and implementation of the OneCollective initiative, where members can turn loyalty points into donations.
“By investing in Mary’s House Services, the Club directly contributes to saving lives, providing safety and fostering resilience among vulnerable women and children in the community,” said Hannah Morrissey, Norths’ Marketing and Communications Manager.
Finalists under the Heart of the Community category for this year’s Awards include the following clubs:
Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club
Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club has made a $100,000 pledge to the Great Lakes Women’s Shelter over the next four years.
The club generates funds through events such as high-profile sports lunches, with a goal to keep the critical shelter thriving.
“The club is not only generating much-need funds but also raising awareness about the challenges faced by vulnerable women and children,” said Marketing & Entertainment Manager Debbie Vermeulen.
Murray Downs Golf & Country Club
Staff spearheaded the Murray Downs Golf & Country Club’s mission to tackle FDV when they pooled $1,000 in tips, later matched by the Board.
Together with some further donations, the club donated $2,500 to Safe Shelter From Domestic Violence, a Swan Hill initiative providing temporary accommodation for women escaping FDV.
Safe Shelter Chair Arthur Graham spoke of the importance in providing a safe shelter without uprooting women and children from their lives.
“With proper housing, they can stay in their community and feel safe,” Graham said.
The club is proud to make a real difference in its community, hoping to raise even more next May.
Castle Hill RSL Group
Castle Hill RSL Group supports Click Collab, a groundbreaking initiative uniting individuals, businesses, local government, and frontline services in a coordinated and strategic approach towards zero FDV.
Click Collab is a preventative approach, viewing FDV as a shared responsibility between everyone in the community, from individuals to businesses.
Andy Abey, Group COO, expressed that the aim is to build a future where local businesses, schools, service providers, and community leaders work together to prevent violence before it occurs, with the Group’s leadership setting an example for communities nationwide.
