Outstanding contributions by NSW clubs in their communities have been recognised in the prestigious NSW Clubs & Community Awards, with 120 deserving finalists unveiled.
These awards aim to acknowledge the remarkable social impact made by clubs across nine categories: Arts & Culture, Club Person of the Year (Individual Award), Education, Emergency Services, Fostering Grassroots Sport, Health Care, Heart of the Community (Club Award), Mental & Social Wellbeing and Sustainability.
Acting CEO of ClubsNSW, Sallianne Faulkner, expressed her delight at the multitude of submissions for the 2023 Clubs & Community Awards.
“This year we received an incredible number of nominations for the awards, which is remarkable when you consider the challenges clubs are still facing with ongoing staff shortages and with many still recovering from the impact of the devastating floods,” said Ms Faulkner.
“From operating food vans to provide meals for those less fortunate, to acting as evacuation centres during the floods, and raising vital funds for domestic violence shelters and mental health programs, clubs have gone above and beyond to support their communities — and now is the time for their efforts to be recognised.”
The judging panel faced a challenging task in selecting winners from the exceptional pool of finalists. Faulkner extended her well wishes to all 120 finalists and encouraged them to take pride in their accomplishments.
The winners will be unveiled during the Clubs & Community Awards Night hosted by TV and radio journalist, Ben Fordham at The Big Top, Luna Park in Sydney on Thursday, 18 May.
