The Keno and Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence celebrated its 26th anniversary recently, recognising clubs that have gone above and beyond for their communities while simultaneously excelling in their day-to-day activities.
The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre saw twenty-eight trophies awarded across twenty-two clubs, following the nomination of seventy clubs across the categories.
Clubs turned out to support and recognise each other despite the adverse weather challenges of Ex-Cyclone Alfred.

Clubs Queensland CEO Kelly Egan highlighted that these organisations consistently show a strong commitment to their members, both on-site and within their wider communities, and the awards serve as a well-deserved recognition of their contributions.
The Waves Sports Club Bundaberg took out top title for Club of the Year – Large, while the Services Club Maryborough was awarded Medium Club of the Year.

Club of the Year – Small was awarded to the Surf Club Mooloolaba, and Club of the Year – Non-Gaming was awarded to The Sands Bowlo.
Club Manager of the Year was awarded to Matthew Simonov from Brothers Leagues Club Ipswich, who praised the hard work, dedication and passion of his entire team, acknowledging that all were involved in creating a welcoming place where visitors feel valued and excited to return.
For the second consecutive year, Club Chef of the Year was awarded to Norths Leagues and Services Club’s executive chef Hossein Moshtaghi, while The Precinct, the club’s restaurant, was a Hall of Fame inductee.
“These results are a true testament to the dedication, passion, and hard work of our entire team. To every staff member – thank you for your commitment to excellence every day,” the club posted on Facebook.
Heart of the Community Award was presented to Club Services Ipswich for its Helping Our Future Today program, which supports local children and families.
Egan said the event gives clubs the opportunity to showcase their community roles beyond their core offerings.
He expressed gratitude for the clubs that go beyond their venue operations, making a meaningful impact in their communities.
Egan emphasised that this dedication sets clubs apart in the hospitality sector, highlighting their commitment to supporting members through sports programs, grants, fundraisers, and by fostering spaces where people can genuinely connect.
