Mona Vale Surf Life Saving Club has reopened after a 13-month shut down and $10m worth of building works.
Around 80 dignitaries and Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) members gathered for the official opening, held on Saturday (4 June).
The ribbon was cut by Mona Vale SLSC President Paula Tocquer, with Member for Pittwater and Minister for Infrastructure, Cities and Active Transport Rob Stokes and Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan.
President Paula Tocquer told Mirage News that she is excited about showing the community their new club.
“The new club building is just amazing. The quality and the design is beautiful. So many locals have commented on how it fits into the surrounding landscape, and it looks fantastic from the water.
“The surf club is a building not only to keep the community safe but also as a place to meet, enjoy and gather. I am sure the Mona Vale community is just as excited as I am,” she said.
The club is home to 1,600 lifesaving volunteers, as well as numerous community groups.
The upgraded club has a new restaurant called The Basin Dining Room that will be operated by the owners of Lovat in Newport. This venue is scheduled to open in Spring. The bar in the Cook Terrace Room is already open for drinks and will add snacks to its offering when the restaurant opens.
There is also a downstairs café called The Bright Side, operated by Nine Yards Coffee Roasters in Brookvale. The Ocean Pool Room is available for hire for functions.
