Thanks to a New South Wales government grant, NBC Sports Club has unveiled a new community courtesy bus.
The Community Building Partnership (CBP) grant program support will ensure that club members, along with local community groups and residents, will have greater access to community facilities.
The program funds community infrastructure projects that build more inclusive, connected, and sustainable communities.
The official bus unveiling took place last week at NBC Sports Club and was attended by State Member for Winston Hills Mark Taylor MP, Councillor Georgina Valjak (LIB) – City of Parramatta, as well as The Doylo Lifestyle Group CEO Darren Thornton and President Anthony Twomey, along with other community representatives and guests.
Frances Tawhara, NBC sports Club venue manager, said the bus will deliver meaningful benefits to members and the broader community alike.
“We’re thrilled to have this new courtesy bus on the road. It’s not just a convenience for our members — it’s a resource for local groups and residents who rely on safe, reliable transport to stay connected.”
Doyalson-Wyee RSL – known as The Doylo – and Northmead Bowling, Recreation & Sporting Club, known as NBC Sports, officially amalgamated in February.
Together, the strategic partnership enhanced member benefits and secured a sustainable future for NBC.
Doylo was established in 1964, and is practised at outside-the-square initiatives, such as its 2024 move to deliver a major waste reduction through the installation of a return and earn station, and its ambitious 20-year redevelopment plans announced in 2022 for housing, childcare, medical facilities, a service station, hotel and recreational facilities, and the revamped RSL, on a 45-Ha site at Doyalson.
The CBP 2026 grant program is anticipated to open early next year.
