Two men have been arrested and are facing charges after allegedly stabbing a security guard of Granville Diggers last week, after he assisted in a nearby vehicle accident.
Emergency services were called around 10.40pm Wednesday (30 October) to the RSL on Memorial Drive. Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended.
Police were told a security guard had assisted drivers after a two-vehicle crash outside the premises, before two men involved in the crash allegedly entered the club and stabbed the 36-year-old guard multiple times, before fleeing.
“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 36-year-old for multiple stab wounds to his arm before taking him to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition,” reported NSW police.
A crime scene was established and investigations into the incident swiftly commenced.
The following day (31 October) detectives arrested two men, aged 28 and 24, at a home in Auburn, and items were seized for forensic testing. The men are thought to be related.
Both were transported to Granville Police Station, where they were charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
They were held to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Friday, where neither applied for bail but it was formally refused.
The case is listed for a brief committal hearing 12 November.
The RSL declined to comment on the ongoing legal matter.
