Fairfield Hospital officially opened its brand-new playground for paediatric patients this week thanks to a donation from Mounties Group of $150,000.
With an average of 2,500 admissions to the paediatric ward each year, the unique needs of these children were met through the transformation of its old playground into a safe, modern and welcoming environment installed by construction company Built.

Now boasting state-of-the-art equipment as well as fresh landscaping, the playground has become an essential part of the hospital’s offering, giving sick children a place to relax and play.
Acting General Manager of Fairfield Hospital, Cara Egan, said the playground will make a meaningful difference, not just by offering distraction but by being a source of joy and comfort.
“We are deeply grateful to Mounties Group for their generosity and commitment to supporting the wellbeing of our patients,” she said.
Built CEO of Construction, David Paterson, said the project was designed to prioritise accessibility, safety, and developmental outcomes for children of all abilities and ages.
Mounties Group President Steve Fitzpatrick said the playground was one example of the Group’s commitment to giving its profits back to the community.
“As a community-based organisation, Mounties Group understands the importance of supporting our local communities,” he said.
“Fairfield Hospital is at the heart of our region, and we’re proud to have been able to contribute to a space that will bring so much comfort and joy to children and their families when they might need it most.”
The Mounties Group is a community centred profit-for-purpose mutual organisation with over 270,000 members. With no shareholders, every dollar made is directed back to its community through donations, grants, sponsorships or new services and facilities.
