The club is seeking a new dining partner after its popular Chinese restaurant closed in June 2021.

Located on the New England Highway in the up-and-coming town of Murrurundi, in the Upper Hunter, the Murrurundi Bowling Club President Garry Vale said they are open to ideas.

Vale told the Hunter Valley News: “We want somebody to come here and step our club back up again as we feel it’s gone into a bit of a dormant state for a little bit and we’re looking to kick-start it again.”

The restaurant space comes with a fully equipped kitchen including a three-wok burner, deep fryer and optional alfresco dining.

Vale said that while some of the locals are keen to see the return of a Chinese restaurant, the club is keeping an open mind.

“There are plenty of opportunities for a creative proprietor, particularly with the changing demographics in the town.

“Our population has grown and our population has changed completely.

“We’ve got a lot of Sydney people in our town now and a lot of them have moved to Murrurundi and retired here so we do have a change of style here and a lot of new faces in town.

“The price of houses has gone up by well and truly 40 per cent, so (Murrurundi) is a go-ahead area, I think,” said Vale.
