Construction is now well underway on the new West Beach Surf Life Saving Club following the demolition of the old clubhouse.

The $8.5 million project has been partially funded by Federal, State and Local government as well as Surf Life Saving SA as part of the Plexus program for the redevelopment of surf lifesaving facilities in South Australia.

The architect-designed building will provide an accessible and functional community hub, with West Beach SLSC board members excited about what they believe will be an iconic addition to the area and ensure a bright future for its current membership of 700.

The historic Adelaide surf club has been providing volunteer surf lifesaving patrols since 1956, along with activities and opportunities for people of all ages.

The new build and its improved facilities, which will include access to more storage and change rooms, a modern new gymnasium, in house café and a licensed bar and function area, is expected to attract a raft of new members when it opens in August 2023.
