Revitalisation works commenced last week on Port City Bowling Club in Port Macquarie.
The $9 million project is aiming for completion by March 2025, in time for the April school holidays.
The decision to revitalise was made after feedback from members, and as part of the club’s commitment to “staying ahead of industry trends”.
The club engaged local building company Joyce Constructions to undertake the works, with a key component of the brief to preserve community spirit, while modernising the facilities.
The project will largely focus on enhancing dining options, with the introduction of a 180-seat bar and grill restaurant boasting views over Oxley Beach, as well as a rooftop terrace to overlook the greens and Oxley Oval, along with the addition of an alfresco dining space.
A function room for 130 aimed at corporate events, celebrations and weddings will be created on the first floor, while “significant upgrades” will be made to each of the Bowls and Entertainment Lounges and gaming room.
The club has taken considerable action to minimise disruptions to its members, ensuring areas such as the Non-Thinkers Sports Bar remains accessible by a temporary relocation to the Entertainment Lounge.
The sports bar will return to its usual location, with extended seating, and a large screen ensuring members won’t miss a game.
All member and guest activities are expected to run to their regular schedules during the works.
Port City Bowling Club aims to have the ground level works finished by the end of this year, with completion of Level 1 and Drift Alfresco set for March 2025.
