Queensland clubs celebrated the best in the industry on 21 March at the 2023 Keno & Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence gala dinner.

The annual awards serve as an opportunity to highlight the positive work in the clubs sector, and provide a chance for the community to gather and celebrate the contributions of these clubs to their communities.

Clubs Queensland serves as the peak industry body for registered and licensed community clubs throughout the northern state. CEO Craig Harley said that the awards recognise those clubs that have demonstrated exceptional engagement with their communities by providing valuable service and social support.

Harley says the annual awards, held this year at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, recognise clubs who have gone above and beyond to engage with their communities to provide invaluable service and social support.

This year a total of 26 awards were presented, with top honours given to four clubs.

The BMD Northcliffe Surf Club, situated in the Gold Coast, was awarded Club of the Year (Small) from a field 31 finalists.

In an exciting first-time achievement for a Central Queensland club, the Frenchville Sports Club in Rockhampton was recognised as the Club of the Year (Medium).

The Waves Sports Club in Bundaberg, which supports 16 local sports clubs and contributes to numerous community events and projects, took the gong for Club of the Year (Large).

Southport Yacht Club Inc. took home Club of the Year (Non-Gaming).
