The man accused of stealing 60 slabs of beer from the racing club on the eve of one of its biggest racing days has now been caught with drugs.

Maxwell Boucher, 34, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court to drug and bail offences.

Boucher was arrested on May 20 and charged over an alleged burglary at Warrnambool Racing Club wherein he was accused of stealing over $3,000 worth of beer.

He was granted bail on the proviso that he not consume or possess drugs prior to his hearing.

On Sunday 10 July, Boucher was pulled over and had his Holden Commodore searched by police. The officers found a vial of clear liquid, which turned out to be GHB.

He was then held overnight in police cells and faced court on Monday 11 July over the new charges.
